Getting Help

Catalayer Code
Catalayer Code is an AI and developer intelligence platform that provides automated risk and quality analysis for public GitHub repositories, pull requests, and source files. The web workspace at code.catalayer.com provides full repository exploration, trending feeds, and history tracking.
Chrome Extension
GitHub AI Code Inspector adds a native Chrome Side Panel to inspect repositories, PRs, and files directly on GitHub without tab-switching. Open the side panel by clicking the toolbar action icon or right-clicking on any GitHub page.
Repository Inspection
Inspections evaluate security signals, runability, README accuracy, implementation completeness, and maintenance hygiene. Authoritative analysis runs server-side via the Catalayer API (https://api.catalayer.com) to ensure consistent, deep verification.
Catalayer ID
Signing in with your Catalayer ID links inspection history across devices and unlocks entitlement tiers. The extension authenticates via an official browser handoff with Catalayer Accounts (accounts.catalayer.com). Anonymous inspections can be linked to your account at any time.
GitHub Access & Personal Access Tokens
By default, inspections use GitHub public access. You may optionally configure a GitHub Personal Access Token (classic or fine-grained with read-only public repo access) in Extension Settings to raise the GitHub API rate limit from 60 to 5,000 requests/hour. Your token is stored only in Chrome local storage and is sent exclusively to GitHub endpoints.

Troubleshooting

Extension does not detect GitHub page
Verify that you are on an active GitHub page matching https://github.com/owner/repo, a Pull Request page (/pull/123), or a blob file page. Ensure the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions and refresh the GitHub tab. If you navigated via GitHub's client-side Turbo/PJAX, clicking anywhere on the page or reopening the side panel will refresh the context.
Inspection unavailable
Ensure your network connection allows traffic to https://api.catalayer.com. If an inspection request times out, check if the repository is accessible publicly on GitHub and try clicking Inspect again. Private repositories without accessible public metadata cannot be inspected by the public engine.
Catalayer ID sign-in
When you click Sign in in the extension, a browser tab opens to Catalayer Accounts. Complete authentication in that tab; the extension polls the session handoff and updates automatically upon completion. If sign-in does not complete within 5 minutes, click Cancel and initiate sign-in again.
GitHub API rate limits
Unauthenticated requests to GitHub's public API are limited by GitHub to 60 requests per hour per IP address. If you encounter rate limit warnings while fetching repository file trees, open Extension Settings (gear icon) and enter a personal access token to immediately obtain 5,000 requests per hour.
GitHub token issues
Ensure your token is valid and not expired. For fine-grained tokens, select Public Repositories (read-only). For classic tokens, no special write permissions or scopes are required for public repository access. Your token remains strictly in Chrome local storage and is never transmitted to Catalayer.
